Make jump threading state sparse

Continuation of https://github.com/rust-lang/rust/pull/127024

Both dataflow const-prop and jump threading involve cloning the state vector a lot. This PR replaces the data structure by a sparse vector, considering:
- that jump threading state is typically very sparse (at most 1 or 2 set entries);
- that dataflow const-prop is disabled by default;
- that place/value map is very eager, and prone to creating an overly large state.

The first commit is shared with the previous PR to avoid needless conflicts.

One check was actually invalid, because it was relying on wfcheck running before typeck, which is not guaranteed in the query system and usually easy to create ICEing examples for via const eval (which runs typeck before wfcheck)

linker: Link dylib crates by path

Linkers seem to support linking dynamic libraries by path.
Not sure why the previous scheme with splitting the path into a directory (passed with `-L`) and a name (passed with `-l`) was used (upd: likely due to https://github.com/rust-lang/rust/pull/126094#issuecomment-2155063414).

When we split a library path `some/dir/libfoo.so` into `-L some/dir` and `-l foo` we add `some/dir` to search directories for *all* libraries looked up by the linker, not just `foo`, and `foo` is also looked up in *all* search directories not just `some/dir`.
Technically we may find some unintended libraries this way.
Therefore linking dylibs via a full path is both simpler and more reliable.

It also makes the set of search directories more easily reproducible when we need to lookup some native library manually (like in https://github.com/rust-lang/rust/pull/123436).

Re-implement a type-size based limit

This PR reintroduces the type length limit added in #37789, which was accidentally made practically useless by the caching changes to `Ty::walk` in #72412, which caused the `walk` function to no longer walk over identical elements.

Hitting this length limit is not fatal unless we are in codegen -- so it shouldn't affect passes like the mir inliner which creates potentially very large types (which we observed, for example, when the new trait solver compiles `itertools` in `--release` mode).

This also increases the type length limit from `1048576 == 2 ** 20` to `2 ** 24`, which covers all of the code that can be reached with craterbot-check. Individual crates can increase the length limit further if desired.

Perf regression is mild and I think we should accept it -- reinstating this limit is important for the new trait solver and to make sure we don't accidentally hit more type-size related regressions in the future.

Check alias args for WF even if they have escaping bound vars

#### What

This PR stops skipping arguments of aliases if they have escaping bound vars, instead recursing into them and only discarding the resulting obligations referencing bounds vars.

#### An example:

From the test:

We now prove that `str: Sized` in order for `&'a [str]` to be well-formed. We were previously unconditionally skipping over `&'a [str]` as it referenced a buond variable. We now recurse into it and instead only discard the `[str]: 'a` obligation because of the escaping bound vars.

#### Why?

This is a change that improves consistency about proving well-formedness earlier in the pipeline, which is necessary for future work on where-bounds in binders and correctly handling higher-ranked implied bounds. I don't expect this to fix any unsoundness.

#### What doesn't it fix?

Specifically, this doesn't check projection predicates' components are well-formed, because there are too many regressions: https://github.com/rust-lang/rust/pull/123737#issuecomment-2052198478

Rewrite handling of universe-leaking placeholder regions into outlives constraints

This commit prepares for Polonius by moving handling of leak check/universe errors out of the inference step by rewriting any universe error into an outlives-static constraint.

This variant is a work in progress but seems to pass most tests.

Note that a few debug assertions no longer hold; a few extra eyes on those changes are appreciated!

The `load` and `store` instructions in LLVM access the aligned size. For example, `load { i64, i32 }` accesses 16 bytes on x86_64: https://alive2.llvm.org/ce/z/n8CHAp.

BTW, this example is expected to be optimized to immediate UB by Alive2: https://rust.godbolt.org/z/b7xK7hv1c and https://alive2.llvm.org/ce/z/vZDtZH.

Fix `FnMut::call_mut`/`Fn::call` shim for async closures that capture references

I adjusted async closures to be able to implement `Fn` and `FnMut` *even if* they capture references, as long as those references did not need to borrow data from the closure captures themselves. See #125259.

However, when I did this, I didn't actually relax an assertion in the `build_construct_coroutine_by_move_shim` shim code, which builds the `Fn`/`FnMut`/`FnOnce` implementations for async closures. Therefore, if we actually tried to *call* `FnMut`/`Fn` on async closures, it would ICE.

This PR adjusts this assertion to ensure that we only capture immutable references in closures if they implement `Fn`/`FnMut`. It also adds a bunch of tests and makes more of the async-closure tests into `build-pass` since we often care about these tests actually generating the right closure shims and stuff. I think it might be excessive to *always* use build-pass here, but 🤷 it's not that big of a deal.

The AST pretty printer previously produced invalid syntax in the case of `break` expressions with a value that begins with a loop or block label.

3d750e2702 Shrink parser positions from usize to u32.
The number of source code bytes can't exceed a `u32`'s range, so a token
position also can't. This reduces the size of `Parser` and
`LazyAttrTokenStreamImpl` by eight bytes each.

7416c20cfd Just push in AttrTokenStream::to_token_trees.
Currently it uses a mixture of functional style (`flat_map`) and
imperative style (`push`), which is a bit hard to read. This commit
converts it to fully imperative, which is more concise and avoids the
need for `smallvec`.

f852568fa6 Change AttrTokenStream::to_tokenstream to to_token_trees.
I.e. change the return type from `TokenStream` to `Vec<TokenTree>`.

Most of the callsites require a `TokenStream`, but the recursive call
used to create `target_tokens` requires a `Vec<TokenTree>`. It's easy
to convert a `Vec<TokenTree>` to a `TokenStream` (just call
`TokenStream::new`) but it's harder to convert a `TokenStream` to a
`Vec<TokenTree>` (either iterate/clone/collect, or use `Lrc::into_inner`
if appropriate).

So this commit changes the return value to simplify that `target_tokens`
call site.

Use full expr span for return suggestion on type error/ambiguity

We sometimes use parts of an expression rather than the whole thing for an obligation span. For example, a method obligation will just point to the path segment corresponding to the `method` in `rcvr.method(args)`.

So let's not use that assuming it'll point to the *whole* expression span, which we can access from the expr hir id we store in `ObligationCauseCode::WhereClauseInExpr`.

23c8ed14c9 Avoid MIR bloat in inlining
In 126578 we ended up with more binary size increases than expected.

This change attempts to avoid inlining large things into small things, to avoid that kind of increase, in cases when top-down inlining will still be able to do that inlining later.

b3ef0e8487 Handle universe leaks by rewriting the constraint graph
This version is a squash-rebased version of a series
of exiermental commits, since large parts of them

It explicitly handles universe violations in higher-kinded

Introduce a `rustc_` attribute to dump all the `DefId` parents of a `DefId`

We've run into a bunch of issues with anon consts having the wrong generics and it would have been incredibly helpful to be able to quickly slap a `rustc_` attribute to check what `tcx.parent(` will return on the relevant DefIds.

I wasn't sure of a better way to make this work for anon consts than requiring the attribute to be on the enclosing item and then walking the inside of it to look for any anon consts. This particular method will honestly break at some point when we stop having a `DefId` available for anon consts in hir but that's for another day...

Reduce merge conflicts from rustfmt's wrapping

Imports in this file are changed by many different features. Rustfmt insists on reformatting and rewrapping the imports every time they change, which causes chronic merge conflicts.

I've split the big import into multiple smaller ones, so that different features will conflict less often.

Automatically taint InferCtxt when errors are emitted

Basically `InferCtxt::dcx` now returns a `DiagCtxt` that refers back to the `Cell<Option<ErrorGuaranteed>>` of the `InferCtxt` and thus when invoking `Diag::emit`, and the diagnostic is an error, we taint the `InferCtxt` directly.

That change on its own has no effect at all, because `InferCtxt` already tracks whether errors have been emitted by recording the global error count when it gets opened, and checking at the end whether the count changed. So I removed that error count check, which had a bit of fallout that I immediately fixed by invoking `InferCtxt::dcx` instead of `TyCtxt::dcx` in a bunch of places.

The remaining new errors are because an error was reported in another query, and never bubbled up. I think they are minor enough for this to be ok, and sometimes it actually improves diagnostics, by not silencing useful diagnostics anymore.

There are more improvements we can do (like tainting in hir ty lowering), but I would rather do that in follow up PRs, because it requires some refactorings.

coverage: Avoid getting extra unexpansion info when we don't need it

Several callers of `unexpand_into_body_span_with_visible_macro` would immediately discard the additional macro-related information, which is wasteful. We can avoid this by having them instead call a simpler method that just returns the span they care about.

This PR also moves the relevant functions out of `coverage::spans::from_mir` and into a new submodule `coverage::unexpand`, so that calling them from `coverage::mappings` is less awkward.

There should be no actual changes to coverage-instrumentation output, as demonstrated by the absence of test updates.

Avoid cloning jump threading state when possible

The current implementation of jump threading passes most of its time cloning its state. This PR attempts to avoid such clones by special-casing the last predecessor when recursing through a terminator.

This is not optimal, but a first step while I refactor the state data structure to be sparse.

The two other commits are drive-by.

Stall computing instance for drop shim until it has no unsubstituted const params

Do not inline the drop shim for types that still have unsubstituted const params.

## Why?

#127030 ICEs because it tries to inline the drop shim for a type with an unsubstituted const param. In order to generate this shim, this requires calling the drop shim builder, which invokes the trait solver to compute whether constituent types need drop (since we compute if a type is copy to disqualify any `Drop` behavior):

9c3bc805dd/compiler/rustc_mir_dataflow/src/elaborate_drops.rs (L378)

However, since we don't keep the param-env of the instance we resolved the item for, we use the wrong param-env:
9c3bc805dd/compiler/rustc_mir_transform/src/shim.rs (L278)
(which is the param-env of `std::ptr::drop_in_place`)

This param-env is notably missing `ConstParamHasTy` predicates, and since we removed the type from consts in https://github.com/rust-lang/rust/pull/125958, we literally cannot prove these predicates in this (relatively) empty param-env. This currently happens in places like the MIR inliner, but may happen elsewhere such as in lints that resolve terminators.

## What?

We force the inliner to not consider calls for `drop_in_place` for types that have unsubstituted const params.

## So what?

This may negatively affect MIR inlining, but I doubt this matters in practice, and fixes a beta regression, so let's fix it. I will look into approaches for fixing this in a more maintainable way, perhaps delaying the creation of drop shim bodies until codegen (like how intrinsics work).

Tighten `fn_decl_span` for async blocks

Tightens the span of `async {}` blocks in diagnostics, and subsequently async closures and async fns, by actually setting the `fn_decl_span` correctly. This is kinda a follow-up on #125078, but it fixes the problem in a more general way.

I think the diagnostics are significantly improved, since we no longer have a bunch of overlapping spans. I'll point out one caveat where I think the diagnostic may get a bit more confusing, but where I don't think it matters.

`rustc_ast::ast::Attribute` doesn't impl `Hash` and `Eq`. Thus it cannot be directly used as key of `IndexMap` in `rustc_smir::rustc_smir::Tables` and we cannot define stable `Attribute` as index to `rustc_ast::ast::Attribute` like `Span` and many other stable definitions.

Since an string (or tokens) and its span contain all info about an attribute, I defined a simple `Attribute` struct on stable side.

I choose to fetch attributes via `tcx::get_attrs_by_path()` due to `get_attrs()` is marked as deprecated and `get_attrs_by_name()` cannot handle name of multiple segments like `rustfmt::skip`.

This PR makes the (currently-unstable) `#[coverage(off)]` and `#[coverage(on)]` attributes apply recursively to all nested functions/closures, instead of just the function they are directly attached to.

Those attributes can now also be applied to modules and to impl/impl-trait blocks, where they have no direct effect, but will be inherited by all enclosed functions/closures/methods that don't override the inherited value.

Fixes for 32-bit SPARC on Linux

This PR fixes a number of issues which previously prevented `rustc` from being built
successfully for 32-bit SPARC using the `sparc-unknown-linux-gnu` triplet.

In particular, it adds linking against `libatomic` where necessary, uses portable `AtomicU64`
for `rustc_data_structures` and rewrites the spec for `sparc_unknown_linux_gnu` to use
`TargetOptions` and replaces the previously used `-mv8plus` with the more portable
`-mcpu=v9 -m32`.

To make `rustc` build successfully, support for 32-bit SPARC needs to be added to the `object`
crate as well as the `nix` crate which I will be sending out later as well.

Let's give this another try! The [previous stabilization attempt](https://github.com/rust-lang/rust/pull/99063) was stalled by some unresolved questions. These have been discussed in a [lang team](https://github.com/rust-lang/lang-team/issues/191) meeting. The last open question, regarding the semantics of the `#[expect]` attribute was decided on in https://github.com/rust-lang/rust/issues/115980

I've just updated the [stabilization report](https://github.com/rust-lang/rust/issues/54503#issuecomment-1179563964) with the discussed questions and decisions. Luckily, the decision is inline with the current implementation.

This hopefully covers everything. Let's hope that the CI will be green like the spring.

Remove more `PtrToPtr` casts in GVN

This addresses two things I noticed in MIR:

1. `NonNull::<T>::eq` does `(a as *mut T) == (b as *mut T)`, but it could just compare the `*const T`s, so this removes `PtrToPtr` casts that are on both sides of a pointer comparison, so long as they're not fat-to-thin casts.

2. `NonNull::<T>::addr` does `transmute::<_, usize>(p as *const ())`, but so long as `T: Thin` that cast doesn't do anything, and thus we can directly transmute the `*const T` instead.

miri: make sure we can find link_section statics even for the local crate

Miri needs some way to iterate all the exported functions and "used" statics of all crates. For dependency crates, this already works fine since we can overwrite the query resonsible for computing `exported_symbols`, but it turns out for local binary crates this does not work: for binaries, `reachable_set` skips a lot of its logic and only checks `contains_extern_indicator()` and `RUSTC_STD_INTERNAL_SYMBOL`. Other flags like `CodegenFnAttrFlags::USED` are entirely ignored.

This PR proposes to use the same check, `has_custom_linkage`, in binaries that we already use to drive the main workqueue of the reachability recursive traversal. I have no idea why binaries used a slightly different check that ignores `USED` -- was that deliberate or does it just not matter most of the time?

Tweak `FlatPat::new` to avoid a temporarily-invalid state

It was somewhat confusing that the old constructor would create a `FlatPat` in a (possibly) non-simplified state, and then simplify its contents in-place.

So instead we now create its fields as local variables, perform simplification, and then create the struct afterwards.

This doesn't affect correctness, but is less confusing.

Eliminate the distinction between PREC_POSTFIX and PREC_PAREN precedence level

I have been tangling with precedence as part of porting some pretty-printer improvements from syn back to rustc (related to parenthesization of closures, returns, and breaks by the AST pretty-printer).

As far as I have been able to tell, there is no difference between the 2 different precedence levels that rustc identifies as `PREC_POSTFIX` (field access, square bracket index, question mark, method call) and `PREC_PAREN` (loops, if, paths, literals).

There are a bunch of places that look at either `prec < PREC_POSTFIX` or `prec >= PREC_POSTFIX`. But there is nothing that needs to distinguish PREC_POSTFIX and PREC_PAREN from one another.

In the interest of eliminating a distinction without a difference, this PR collapses these 2 levels down to 1.

There is exactly 1 case where an expression with PREC_POSTFIX precedence needs to be parenthesized in a location that an expression with PREC_PAREN would not, and that's when the receiver of ExprKind::MethodCall is ExprKind::Field. `x.f()` means a different thing than `(x.f)()`. But this does not justify having separate precedence levels because this special case in the grammar is not governed by precedence. Field access does not have "lower precedence than" method call syntax &mdash; you can tell because if it did, then `x.f[0].f()` wouldn't be able to have its unparenthesized field access in the receiver of a method call. Because this Field/MethodCall special case is not governed by precedence, it already requires special handling and is not affected by eliminating the PREC_POSTFIX precedence level.

Deny `use<>` for RPITITs

Precise capturing `use<>` syntax is currently a no-op on RPITITs, since GATs have no variance, so all captured lifetimes are captured invariantly.

We don't currently *need* to support `use<>` on RPITITs, since `use<>` is initially intended for migrating RPIT *overcaptures* from edition 2021->2024, but since RPITITs currently capture all in-scope lifetimes, we'll never need to write `use<>` on an RPITIT.

Eventually, though, it would be desirable to support precise capturing on RPITITs, since RPITITs overcapturing by default can be annoying to some folks. But let's separate that (which will likely require some delicate types team work for adding variances to GATs and adjusting the refinement rules) from the stabilization of the feature for edition 2024.

Various refactorings to rustc_interface

This should make it easier to move the driver interface away from queries in the future. Many custom drivers call queries like `queries.global_ctxt()` before they are supposed to be called, breaking some things like certain `--print` and `-Zunpretty` options, `-Zparse-only` and emitting the dep info at the wrong point in time. They are also not actually necessary at all. Passing around the query output manually would avoid recomputation too and would be just as easy. Removing driver queries would also reduce the amount of global mutable state of the compiler. I'm not removing driver queries in this PR to avoid breaking the aforementioned custom drivers.

c2f1072e01 Tweak FlatPat::new to avoid a temporarily-invalid state
It was somewhat confusing that the old constructor would create a `FlatPat` in
a (possibly) non-simplified state, and then simplify its contents in-place.

So instead we now create its fields as local variables, perform simplification,
and then create the struct afterwards.

This doesn't affect correctness, but is less confusing.

2e4d547d4a Extra panic cases.
Just some extra sanity checking, making explicit some values not
possible in code working with token trees -- we shouldn't be seeing
explicit delimiter tokens, because they should be represented as
`TokenTree::Delimited`.

Add `SliceLike` to `rustc_type_ir`, use it in the generic solver code (+ some other changes)

First, we split out `TraitRef::new_from_args` which takes *just* `ty::GenericArgsRef` from `TraitRef::new` which takes `impl IntoIterator<Item: Into<GenericArg>>`. I will explain in a minute why.

Second, we introduce `SliceLike`, which allows us to be generic over `List<T>` and `[T]`. This trait has an `as_slice()` and `into_iter()` method, and some other convenience functions. However, importantly, since types like `I::GenericArgs` now implement `SliceLike` rather than `IntoIter<Item = I::GenericArg>`, we can't use `TraitRef::new` on this directly. That's where `new_from_args` comes in.

Finally, we adjust all the code to use these slice operators. Some things get simpler, some things get a bit more annoying since we need to use `as_slice()` in a few places. 🤷

Split the lifetimes of `MirBorrowckCtxt`

These lifetimes are sometimes too general and will link things together that are independent. These are a blocker for actually finishing tracking more state (e.g. error tainting) in the diagnostic context handle, and I'd rather land it in its own PR instead of together with functional changes.

Also changes a bunch of named lifetimes to `'_` where they were irrelevant

coverage: Overhaul validation of the `#[coverage(..)]` attribute

This PR makes sweeping changes to how the (currently-unstable) coverage attribute is validated:
- Multiple coverage attributes on the same item/expression are now treated as an error.
- The attribute must always be `#[coverage(off)]` or `#[coverage(on)]`, and the error messages for this are more consistent.
  -  A trailing comma is still allowed after off/on, since that's part of the normal attribute syntax.
- Some places that silently ignored a coverage attribute now produce an error instead.
  - These cases were all clearly bugs.
- Some places that ignored a coverage attribute (with a warning) now produce an error instead.
  - These were originally added as lints, but I don't think it makes much sense to knowingly allow new attributes to be used in meaningless places.
  - Some of these errors might soon disappear, if it's easy to extend recursive coverage attributes to things like modules and impl blocks.

One of the goals of this PR is to lay a more solid foundation for making the coverage attribute recursive, so that it applies to all nested functions/closures instead of just the one it is directly attached to.

Fixes #126658.

This PR incorporates #126659, which adds more tests for validation of the coverage attribute.

Ensure we don't accidentally succeed when we want to report an error

This also changes the `DefiningOpaqueTypes::No` to `Yes` without adding tests, as it is solely run on the error path to improve diagnostics. I was unable to provide a test that changes diagnostics, as all the tests I came up with ended up successfully constraining the opaque type and thus succeeding the coercion.

The documentation of `MaybeUninit::uninit_array()` says:

> Note: in a future Rust version this method may become unnecessary when Rust allows [inline const expressions](https://github.com/rust-lang/rust/issues/76001). The example below could then use `let mut buf = [const { MaybeUninit::<u8>::uninit() }; 32];`.

The PR adding it also said: <https://github.com/rust-lang/rust/pull/65580#issuecomment-544200681>

> if it’s stabilized soon enough maybe it’s not worth having a standard library method that will be replaceable with `let buffer = [MaybeUninit::<T>::uninit(); $N];`

That time has come to pass — inline const expressions are stable — so `MaybeUninit::uninit_array()` is now unnecessary. The only remaining question is whether it is an important enough *convenience* to keep it around.

I believe it is net good to remove this function, on the principle that it is better to compose two orthogonal features (`MaybeUninit` and array construction) than to have a specific function for the specific combination, now that that is possible.

Deprecate no-op codegen option `-Cinline-threshold=...`

This deprecates `-Cinline-threshold` since using it has no effect. This has been the case since the new LLVM pass manager started being used, more than 2 years ago.

Recommend using `-Cllvm-args=--inline-threshold=...` instead.

Closes #89742 which is E-help-wanted.
