This commit is an implementation of [RFC 1044][rfc] which adds additional
surface area to the `std::fs` module. All new APIs are `#[unstable]` behind
assorted feature names for each one.

The new APIs added are:
* `fs::canonicalize` - bindings to `realpath` on unix and
`GetFinalPathNameByHandle` on windows.
* `fs::symlink_metadata` - similar to `lstat` on unix
* `fs::FileType` and accessor methods as `is_{file,dir,symlink}`
* `fs::Metadata::file_type` - accessor for the raw file type
* `fs::DirEntry::metadata` - acquisition of metadata which is free on Windows
but requires a syscall on unix.
* `fs::DirEntry::file_type` - access the file type which may not require a
syscall on most platforms.
* `fs::DirEntry::file_name` - access just the file name without leading
components.
* `fs::PathExt::symlink_metadata` - convenience method for the top-level
function.
* `fs::PathExt::canonicalize` - convenience method for the top-level
function.
* `fs::PathExt::read_link` - convenience method for the top-level
function.
* `fs::PathExt::read_dir` - convenience method for the top-level
function.
* `std::os::raw` - type definitions for raw OS/C types available on all
platforms.
* `std::os::$platform` - new modules have been added for all currently supported
platforms (e.g. those more specific than just `unix`).
* `std::os::$platform::raw` - platform-specific type definitions. These modules
are populated with the bare essentials necessary for lowing I/O types into
their raw representations, and currently largely consist of the `stat`
definition for unix platforms.
This commit also deprecates `Metadata::{modified, accessed}` in favor of
inspecting the raw representations via the lowering methods of `Metadata`.
* De-indent quite a bit by removing usage of FnOnce closures
* Clearly separate code for the parent/child after the fork
* Use `fs2::{File, OpenOptions}` instead of calling `open` manually
* Use RAII to close I/O objects wherever possible
* Remove loop for closing all file descriptors, all our own ones are now
`CLOEXEC` by default so they cannot be inherited
This commit starts to set the CLOEXEC flag for all files and sockets opened by
the standard library by default on all unix platforms. There are a few points of
note in this commit:
* The implementation is not 100% satisfactory in the face of threads. File
descriptors only have the `F_CLOEXEC` flag set *after* they are opened,
allowing for a fork/exec to happen in the middle and leak the descriptor.
Some platforms do support atomically opening a descriptor while setting the
`CLOEXEC` flag, and it is left as a future extension to bind these apis as it
is unclear how to do so nicely at this time.
* The implementation does not offer a method of opting into the old behavior of
not setting `CLOEXEC`. This will possibly be added in the future through
extensions on `OpenOptions`, for example.
* This change does not yet audit any Windows APIs to see if the handles are
inherited by default by accident.
This is a breaking change for users who call `fork` or `exec` outside of the
standard library itself and expect file descriptors to be inherted. All file
descriptors created by the standard library will no longer be inherited.

module for basic neworking based on top of `std::io`. This module serves as a
replacement for the `std::old_io::net` module and networking primitives in
`old_io`.

the point that each of the networking types is just a bare socket. To this end
functionality such as timeouts and cloning has been removed (although cloning
can be done through `duplicate`, it may just yield an error).
With this `net` module comes a new implementation of `SocketAddr` and `IpAddr`.
This work is entirely based on #20785 and the only changes were to alter the
in-memory representation to match the `libc`-expected variants and to move from
public fields to accessors.

There are a number of holes that the stability lint did not previously cover,
including:
* Types
* Bounds on type parameters on functions and impls
* Where clauses
* Imports
* Patterns (structs and enums)
These holes have all been fixed by overriding the `visit_path` function on the
AST visitor instead of a few specialized cases. This change also necessitated a
few stability changes:
* The `collections::fmt` module is now stable (it was already supposed to be).
* The `thread_local:👿:Key` type is now stable (it was already supposed to
be).
* The `std::rt::{begin_unwind, begin_unwind_fmt}` functions are now stable.
These are required via the `panic!` macro.
* The `std::old_io::stdio::{println, println_args}` functions are now stable.
These are required by the `print!` and `println!` macros.
* The `ops::{FnOnce, FnMut, Fn}` traits are now `#[stable]`. This is required to
make bounds with these traits stable. Note that manual implementations of
these traits are still gated by default, this stability only allows bounds
such as `F: FnOnce()`.
Additionally, the compiler now has special logic to ignore its own generated
`__test` module for the `--test` harness in terms of stability.

Note: OpenBSD don't provide system function to return a valuable Path
for `env::current_exe`. The implementation is currently based on the
value of `argv[0]`, which couldn't be used when executable is called via
PATH.

to replace most of the functionality in the current `std::os` module. More

Many function signatures have also been tweaked for various purposes, but the
main changes were:
* `Vec`-returning APIs now all return iterators instead
* All APIs are now centered around `OsString` instead of `Vec<u8>` or `String`.
There is currently on convenience API, `env::var_string`, which can be used to
get the value of an environment variable as a unicode `String`.
All old APIs are `#[deprecated]` in-place and will remain for some time to allow
for migrations. The semantics of the APIs have been tweaked slightly with regard
to dealing with invalid unicode (panic instead of replacement).
The new `std::env` module is all contained within the `env` feature, so crates
must add the following to access the new APIs:

These modules will house the code that used to be part of the runtime system
in libnative. The `sys_common` module contains a few low-level but
cross-platform details. The `sys` module is set up using `#[cfg()]` to
include either a unix or windows implementation of a common API
surface. This API surface is *not* exported directly in `libstd`, but is
instead used to bulid `std::os` and `std::io`.
Ultimately, the low-level details in `sys` will be exposed in a
controlled way through a separate platform-specific surface, but that
setup is not part of this patch.
