c0cecd0e60 python3Packages.libxml2: Patch to work around python3 + utf-8 itstool crash 
1. Gnumeric has unbalanced XML tags in its doc translations.
2. itstool's XML error handler tries to print this error with context.
3. libxml2's context snipper treats the data as bytes, not UTF-8.
4. python3Packages.libxml2 casts the context to a UTF-8 Python string.
5. itstool dereferences a null pointer.

This patch intervenes at #4.

In https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=789714#c4 , upstream
suggests that intervening at #3 would be better -- that each of the four
copies of xmlParserPrintFileContextInternal() have four additional UTF-8
problems, one of which is that the caret indicator ought to count
"unicode characters" not bytes.  But to position a caret correctly, a
character count is not sufficient -- this would need to use icu's BiDi
logic (with fallback to doing something wrong when libxml2 is configured
not to use icu) -- which makes a 'correct' fix a much larger project
than this simple band-aid.

245f25586b libxml2: only use static output with both shared & static 
The static output should only get created when both enableShared and
enableStatic are set. Otherwise there would be libraries missing from
the main output when enableShared = false & enableStatic = true. This
can cause issues in some packages that don’t know about libxml2’s
static output.

libxml2: bugfix updates from git upstream 
This should solve CVE-2016-5131 and some other bugs, but not what Suse
calls CVE-2016-9597: https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1017497
The bugzilla discussion seems to indicate that the CVE is referenced
incorrectly and only shows reproducing when using command-line flags
that are considered "unsafe".

CVE-2016-9318 also remains unfixed, as I consider their reasoning OK:

e611215f5c Move finding XML catalogs into a separate setup hook 
This is because libxml/libxslt are not the only implementations that
respect $XML_CATALOG_FILES.

Also, look in share/xml for catalogs (in addition to the
now-deprecated xml/dtd and xml/xsl).

419f15b060 Remove http_proxy/ftp_proxy overrides used in setup hooks. 
Partially reverts eaa4db148d. Used
together with nix-shell it results into unresolvable domains. For
example: `nix-shell -p libxml2` spawns a shell with non-working DNS.

chroot should remove such unpurities.

42560c78bb libxml2 w/o python --with-python=no on all systems 
When building libxml2 without python enabled, pass "--with-python=no" to
configure on all systems, not only on FreeBSD. Omitting mentioned
configure option results in building libxml2 WITH python enabled. In
this case, configure is looking for python by itself in system paths.
With a rootless configuration, python includes from the host are accessed.
If those files (Python.h) are not available, building libxml2 fails.

cb4a883683 * Update libxml2 to 2.7.7. This is necessary because of the zlib 
update - xsltproc segfaults otherwise.  (From the release notes:
  "libxml violates the zlib interface and crashes".)

ccc497f80d Make WebKit use libsoup 2.31.2 via deepOverride. Edit a few packages that were overridable but did not allow extra arguments. Remove a catch with deepOverride that pkgs.lib had this attribute in a different sense.

edbbddce1d A case study in transitive overrides. WebKit needs fresh glib. This means it needs a whole slice of system built against glib-2.22.. Added overrides are generic enough, though. So the same way can be used to override everything. I have failed (so far?) to add mkOverridable into stdenv, though.

2d15d4c269 Augment `libxml2' setup hook to add XSL stylesheets to XML catalogs. 
This allows, for instance, `docbook_xsl' to be visible (as part of
`$XML_CATALOG_FILES') by packages that use it as a build input.

eaa4db148d * libxml2 / libxslt: provide a setup hook that prevents xmllint and 
xsltproc from downloading DTDs from the network, which is impure.
  This caused a lot of problems with Gnome builds in the build farm,
  because those downloads are slow and would sometimes fail.

  The setup hook also sets up $XML_CATALOG_FILES.
