ef176dcf7e nixos/*: automatically convert option descriptions
conversions were done using https://github.com/pennae/nix-doc-munge
using (probably) rev f34e145 running

    nix-doc-munge nixos/**/*.nix
    nix-doc-munge --import nixos/**/*.nix

the tool ensures that only changes that could affect the generated
manual *but don't* are committed, other changes require manual review
and are discarded.

2e751c0772 treewide: automatically md-convert option descriptions
the conversion procedure is simple:

 - find all things that look like options, ie calls to either `mkOption`
   or `lib.mkOption` that take an attrset. remember the attrset as the
   option
 - for all options, find a `description` attribute who's value is not a
   call to `mdDoc` or `lib.mdDoc`
 - textually convert the entire value of the attribute to MD with a few
   simple regexes (the set from mdize-module.sh)
 - if the change produced a change in the manual output, discard
 - if the change kept the manual unchanged, add some text to the
   description to make sure we've actually found an option. if the
   manual changes this time, keep the converted description

this procedure converts 80% of nixos options to markdown. around 2000
options remain to be inspected, but most of those fail the "does not
change the manual output check": currently the MD conversion process
does not faithfully convert docbook tags like <code> and <package>, so
any option using such tags will not be converted at all.

39621bb8de nixos/alertmanager: start after the network-online target
If the host network stack is slow to start, the alertmanager fails to
start with this error message:

    caller=main.go:256 msg="unable to initialize gossip mesh" err="create memberlist: Failed to get final advertise address: No private IP address found, and explicit IP not provided"

This bug can be reproduced by shutting down the network stack and
restarting the alertmanager.

Note I don't know why I didn't hit this issue with previous
alertmanager releases.

nixos/treewide: Move rename.nix imports to their respective modules
A centralized list for these renames is not good because:
- It breaks disabledModules for modules that have a rename defined
- Adding/removing renames for a module means having to find them in the
central file
- Merge conflicts due to multiple people editing the central file

739bdff4a4 nixos/prometheus/alertmanager: use ExecStart instead of script
This results in a simpler service unit which doesn't first have to
start a shell:

  > cat /nix/store/s95nsr8zbkblklanqpkiap49mkwbaq45-unit-alertmanager.service/alertmanager.service
  ...
  ExecStart=/nix/store/4g784lwcy7kp69hg0z2hfwkhjp2914lr-alertmanager-0.16.2-bin/bin/alertmanager \
    --config.file /nix/store/p2c7fyi2jkkwq04z2flk84q4wyj2ggry-checked-config \
    --web.listen-address [::1]:9093 \
    --log.level warn

9f07fa719c Document the addresses Alertmanager will listen on (#56409)
https://github.com/golang/go/issues/9334 describes how net.Listen (as used by Alertmanager):
* listens on 127.0.0.1 if the listenAddress is "localhost"
* listens on all interfaces if the listenAddress is ""

51c3082119 nixos/prometheus: require one alertmanager configuration parameter
This commit adds an assertion that checks that either `configFile` or
`configuration` is configured for alertmanager. The alertmanager config
can not be an empty attributeset. The check executed with `amtool` fails
before the service even has the chance to start. We should probably not
allow a broken alertmanager configuration anyway.

This also introduces a test for alertmanager configuration that piggy
backs on the existing prometheus tests.

ac52cb3aed nixos/prometheus/alertmanager: double hyphenate long opts (#34914)
Alertmanager 0.13.0 doesn't support single dash long options, so '-config.file'
for example is parsed as '-c', which leads to the service not starting.

d2413943fa nixos/prometheus: add configText option for alertmanager
The reason being less mental overhead when reading upstream
documentation. Examples can be pasted right into the configuration
instead of translating to Nix attrset first.

9ec867f59f nixos/prometheus: unbreak alertmanager default config
The current default value of listenAddress = null blows up:

  $ nixos-rebuild build
  error: cannot coerce null to a string, at
  .../nixpkgs/nixos/modules/services/monitoring/prometheus/alertmanager.nix:97:16

With listenAddress = "" we use the same default as upstream and there is
no blow up :-)
