linux_testing_bcachefs: 2022-03-09 -> 2022-03-21
This should fix a bug causing kernel panics when your fs has snapshots
enabled. See:
https://lore.kernel.org/all/bc622d24-9fad-7b3-22cb-da4bf2dd32d@ewheeler.net/T/

This patch also bumps the kernel version to 5.16, as bcachefs is devel-
oping against that now.

nixos/earlyoom: bring the module up to date (#163663)
* nixos/earlyoom: bring the module up to date

Removes deprecated option `ignoreOOMScoreAdjust`, introduces `killHook`
as a replacement for `notificationsCommand`, and adds an `extraArgs`
option for things not covered by the module.

* nixos/earlyoom: add nixos test

* nixos/earlyoom: add reportInterval

Allows setting the interval for logging a memory report. Defaults to
3600 following upstream
     (https://github.com/rfjakob/earlyoom/blob/master/earlyoom.default#L5)
to avoid flooding logs.

* nixos/earlyoom: add free{Mem,Swap}KillThreshold

a5c28278f9 kernel: enable RANDOM_TRUST_BOOTLOADER on >= 5.4
> Some bootloaders can provide entropy to increase the kernel's initial device randomness.

This allows, for example, EFI to provide 64 bytes. In general my opinion is an attacker
who can manipulate the random seed sufficiently to cause problems likely has other,
more direct approaches at their disposal as well.

611e9302f9 nixos-rebuild: add --no-flake switch
When a NixOS system uses flakes, i.e., /etc/nixos/flake.nix exists, it
is impossible to use nixos-rebuild to build a pre-flake
configuration.nix. Of course, one can directly use nix command to
build the configuration, but not everybody remembers the correct nix
options to do that.

With the new option, it is possible to build a pre-flake configuration
with command like this:

    nixos-rebuild build-vm -I nixos-config=./vm.nix --no-flake

The option might be useful for people following older pre-flake
tutorials on a flake-based system.

cb7bc7c60f nixos-rebuild: Print commands as they are run on verbose flag
nixos-rebuild would forward all verbose flags to nix, but not actually
increase its own verbosity.
Which would make it hard to see what’s going on without resorting to
tools like strace or adding `set -x` to the script.

We add a simple exec wrapper around the most “interesting” commands,
that is nix tool invocations. If any verbosity flag is given, it will
set the verbosity flag of the nixos-rebuild script all commands
wrapped into `runCmd` will start logging their invocation.

This is done via a `logVerbose` function, which can also be used to
print logging messages when in verbose mode, to aid debugging why
nixos-rebuild does what it does. A few messages are added, but
potentially we could log a lot more details.

Now, testing all of the changed code paths turns out to be rather
hard, so I am unsure how to verify that for all changed commands
behaviour stays indeed the same.

fcb6bb628b audit: disable python when cross-compiling
To support this theoretically, the configure script upstream would need
to a) stop using PATH for finding python-config exclusively and allow
passing an absolute path to it and b) cease using the distutils module
for configuration purposes which of course requires running the host
python interpreter which is not possible in the cross case.

8d7d5fdbdc linux: enable TASKSTATS, TASK_XACCT, TASK_DELAY_ACCT and TASK_IO_ACCOUNTING
iotop needs TASKSTATS, TASK_DELAY_ACCT, TASK_XACCT and
TASK_IO_ACCOUNTING to work. For x86_64, all these options are enabled
by upstream[1]. For aarch64, however, only TASK_XACCT and
TASK_IO_ACCOUNTING are enabled by upstream[2].

This patch enables all these four options for aarch64, which have been
enabled by many other distributions, e.g. debian[3], fedora[4],
rhel[5] and gentoo[6].

I tried to only enable TASKSTATS and TASK_DELAY_ACCT since the other
two options are enabled by upstream, but it turns out that it's
necessary to explicitly enable all four options. I do not figure out
the reason though.

Additionally, given that debian enables these four options for all
arch[3], I think it's safe for us to do the same thing.

a6a823834b wpa_supplicant: rename withDbus to dbusSupport
wpa_supplicant/default.nix currently uses the option "withDbus" to
decide whether or not to compile with dbus support. It is the only
nix package that uses this choice of name. Most other packages use
dbusSupport instead.

Let's rename this option to dbusSupport, so that users desiring to
compile without dbus can set the option once in nixpkgs.conf and have
all packages understand that directive.

ac74ab0236 zfs: Remove top-level with from expression
Using `with` in such a high up scope makes it very easy to
accidentally forget to update function arguments and introduce typos
because of the lack of any editor support and static analysis.

It's better to explicitly inherit the small number of things we need
from `lib` into scope so that editors can know of scoped variables.

f8be98b2cb cryptsetup: separate binaries from libraries
This reduces closure sizes by making the libraries not depend on the
binaries, which is good for dynamic builds, and (when statically
linked) making the binaries not depend on the libraries, which is good
for static builds.

When static building, we additionally have to disable loading LUKS
plugins from $lib to avoid a reference, which probably wouldn't have
worked anyway.

fb079c3110 linux.configfile: fix alts containing "/m"
generate-config.pl's auto modules feature answers "m" to any Kconfig
question it thinks supports being a module. It detected this by
seeing if the help shown by make config (called "alts" by the script)
contained the string "/m", which it would in the case of e.g a
tristate option, where alts would be "N/m/y/?".

But then along came CONFIG_MODPROBE_PATH in Linux 5.13, with a default
value, shown in the make config help, of "/sbin/modprobe".
generate-config.pl would see the "/m" substring, and answer "m" to the
question, meaning (I think) that the built kernel would expect the
modprobe binary to be at /m. This broke the (non-NixOS) VM images I
build with Nix. NixOS was unaffected because it uses a different
mechanism to set the modprobe path.

With the current architecture, we can't 100% determine whether a
Kconfig option is a string or a tristate, but we can get a lot closer
by using a better regex. My new regex only accepts single word
characters, separated by slashes, with a "/?" at the end. This is
much less likely to ever end up as the default value of a string
option.

Tested by building linux_latest.configfile before and after my
changes, and checking the only difference is the correct default for
CONFIG_MODPROBE_PATH.

a0bfc8e7c1 systemd: update patchShebangs comment
We can't remove this yet even though we're on 250.3, because some more
crept in and weren't fixed in time for the release.

f5c243d6c2 systemd: drop -Defi-ld=gold
As reported in
https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/pull/156096#pullrequestreview-900986176,
this fails to build on EFI enabled RISC-V because the requested EFI
linker (efi-ld=gold) is unsupported. According to Wikipedia gold only
supports x86, x86-64, ARM, PowerPC, TileGX.

Removing this option alltogether will cause meson to figure out the
default linker by itself.

3ceeae830d systemdMinimal: don't set {libfido2,p11-kit,libgcrypt} to null
We don't have to do that as we already set all the feature flags to
null. Setting individual libraries to null instead of disabling their
feature flag will lead with bad example that will cause each of the
features to be disabled with multiple flags in the systemdMinimal
variant.

If a dependency is pulled in via another feature we should disable that
rather than setting it to null. Overriding a given package should be the
last resort.
